Nearly 50 percent of Doctors offering Liposuction in the world have no surgical training, according to a study published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery—and this could be hazardous to patients. It’s not illegal for doctors who are not surgeons to perform the procedure, and many of the doctors performing the surgery take a course or training session in the procedure. But such training is not required and is often inadequate, according to the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery. The authors of the study are calling not for government regulation of liposuction, but for a greater effort to inform patients about who is or is not qualified to perform various cosmetic surgery procedures.

So how should you find a surgeon for liposuction? Patients can contact Enhance Cosmetic Surgery on 1300 ENHANCE to organize an appointment with Sydney leading cosmetic surgeon Dr. Rita Kirby.
